Merry Christmas from NC Weather Happens, LLC
It would have been nice to have a White Christmas this year especially as Christmas of 2010 is so fresh in our memory. Ridging in the SE is just not going to let it happen this year. Instead, we will be on the warm side with 50’s and 60’s Christmas Day and a small chance of showers. The bright side is that there will be no travel issues in the Southeast but if you are heading North or West of North Carolina, prepare for delays as winter has not been as kind in those areas. Take a look at the Christmas Forecast below…
There is a slight chance of Rain Saturday evening into Christmas day but confidence in that is low at this time but you can expect mostly cloudy skies Christmas eve at a minimum.
Long range models are suggesting a return to more normal/seasonal weather for NC in the upcoming weeks. That does not mean winter is cancelled! It just means we will be having plain ‘ol average weather. After New Years and into January, a return to what some are calling “the December to remember” is showing up with anomalously cold air and a more pronounced northeast flow out of the Gulf of Mexico which if timed right, could bring us some winter weather. Astronomical Winter begins December 21, so we are only getting started folks. At this time, there is nothing to indicate our seasonal outlook issued in October is going off track so, stay tuned…
Michele “Mrs NC Weather Happens”, Sydney, Abigail, and I wish you all a safe and joyous Christmas. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for joining us and being a part of our lives and hope you continue as we usher in a New Year!
