So far this summer, the Piedmont has not “officially” had any 90 degree days. That is about to change once the Appalachian Wedge moves out this week.

With schools letting out and vacations begin, here is a heads up for the next two weeks.


Looking at the Extended forecasts for the period June 4 through June 19 the trend is for Summerlike weather.

Selected here is the forecast for Greensboro, but it is representative of the Piedmont.


The GFS depicts an obvious warming trend and it appears that even when considering other models (Euro, Canadian, etc…) the same trend is there.

A more Summerlike pattern will soon take over with hot afternoons, warm evenings, and afternoon pop-up thunderstorms. A cold front is modeled to pass through the area around the 11th, so that may trigger some more potent weather for us…time will tell. It would be nice to see more precipitation mixed in, but as you already know…
