Surry, Yadkin, and Wilkes Counties are right on the edge this weekend.
Wintry mix at this time is forecast for the SW Virginia High Country and Foothills, but with many variables in play, our NC Northern Piedmont counties need to include the small chance of freezing rain and sleet in weekend plans. Portions of the Triad are on the edge of this cold boundary as well.
Temps Saturday will be in the mid 30’s in the presence of a moderate Cold Air Dam…so just a few degrees is all it takes to turn into frozen precipitation (or just stay a cold rain). NC Weather Happens will be monitoring this as we get closer to the weekend.
